Tully Lou - "Meguro" Crop + "Parna" Leggings

Tully Lou, the Brand:

Founded by Australian entrepreneur Tully Louise Humphrey during her stay in Bali, Tully Lou as an activewear brand has evolved aesthetically, from an early emphasis on geometry and contrast, to a show of monochrome now. It is an early advocate for wearing your activewear out and about even when you are not doing sports, and became an overnight sensation when athleisure poster girl Gigi Hadid was spotted wearing one of its distinctive leggings in 2014. Today, the Tully Lou look is much more pared down, but just as streetwise.

The "Meguro" Crop:

Not going to lie, orange is outside my comfort zone, and the Meguro crop did not change that.

The "Parna" Leggings:

Favored by Gigi Hadid and responsible for putting Tully Lou on the map, the Parna leggings look like they come from the set of the sci-fi fantasy "Tron" in the best way possible. The vertical panels and mesh inserts create a strong look, and after close to 8 years of frequent wear I can say with confidence that the material and craftsmanship are just as enduring.

• Padding for sports bra: Yes, sewn-in and not removable.

• Sports bra straps: Non-adjustable high neck with a racer back

• Legging rise: Mid-rise

• Legging length: Full length

• Pockets on leggings: No

• Support level: This sports bra is rather covered up and is good for running and gym workout. The leggings are squat-proof and not see-through. Sweat wicking.

• Comfort level: I love the leggings for working out but would not recommend them for lounging around.

• Fit: The sports bra runs true to size but the leggings run small. The brand has its own size guide, based on which I should be Sz Small (US6 / UK10 / AU10), but I got Sz Medium for both the top and the bottom. The Sz Medium sports bra is visibly the wrong fit. For the leggings, I have two pairs, one in Sz Small and one in Sz Medium, and Sz Medium is the better fit.

Please bear in mind that the US size refers to activewear size, not regular clothes. Speaking from experience, I find North American activewear sizing to run much smaller compared to that of regular clothes. A good benchmark for US activewear sizing is Lululemon, which makes activewear sized 0-20. The size you wear in Lululemon is your US size.

Tully Lou is available through the brand's own site and ships internationally. Free shipping is offered to Australian orders over $150, and US, UK, and Canadian orders over $200, to name a few. Returns for full-price items are accepted within 30 days of receipt, though the site does not say if return shipping is also covered. The "Meguro" crop came out in 2019 and this style of the "Parna" leggings in 2015, and they are no longer available.
